I believe the open admissions policy is a good thing. For me for instance I am a parent who recently became unemployed. The policy made it easy for me to go get more educaton to help in finding a better job, but still being able to take care of my family at the same time. I also think it helps teens in the community with finacial difficulties. They can live at home while continuing their education at a affordable cost, not having to commute or paying high tuition fees. The best thing the open policy gives is that anyone who wants to better themself by increasing there education has the opportunity to do so.
The negative side of the open policy is that with so many attending the school it makes classes fill up faster. Making it difficult for those who need to take specific class to get there degree to get into those classes they need. Then theres the class room size. Having so many students makes for more students per class, for those students who need more person help from a teacher may find it difficult to get this from such large classes.

Bill Collectors
OK, here's my complaint, collection calls, is it possible to just once have someone that can speak a level of English I can understand. There is nothing worse then trying to talk to someone to set up a bill payment plan when you can't even understand what they are saying. If a agency is going to take the time to not only hire people to call people for bill collection and call you everyday, and I emphasize everyday, they could at least hire someone who can speak English. Seriously it drives me crazy. What even drives me more crazy is those bill collectors that call your house and its not for someone you ever have heard of before. But trust me there name will become familiar because even after explaining how the person doesn't live here and they apologize and tell you they will update their records, they continue to call your house for that person. An over time you get the same story, "Sorry , we will update our records that this is no longer there number." They have access to a computers can't they look up in the white pages and see that number is no longer the person they are trying to get a hold of. It's like they think your lying, trying to cover for the person they are trying to reach. Wow it drives me crazy. Seriously if you want my money, then speak my language.

Technology is a good/bad thing
When addressing technology I am talking about computors. They are good in the sense that almost everything is at your finger tips. This tends to make life much easier for most. You can pay bills, job search, fill out applications, form new relationships, and stay in touch with friends and family, and even do your shopping. An though this all sounds wonderful, in reality it is just as damaging. What about the effects for these so called easier things. Like the lack of mail due to online bill payment, emailing, or e-cards, this has a large effect on our postal service. Less mail, means less workers need to sort and deliver mail. Then what about those who don't have computors, may applications can only be filled out online, which makes it inconvenient for those people. Doesn't it show more enthusiasm for someone to actly take the time to go to a establishment and fill out an application. This shows they really want the job. As far as forming friendships on line you are taking the risk of knowing whether or not that person on the other end is really who they say they are.
So my stance on computors they may make tasks easier which is a good thing but the bad effects can be far more then we expect.

Safe Sex
In a world of so much information, it is hard to think that anyone is oblivious to the risks of unsafe sex. What really makes me mad is when someone is shocked or surprised when they get pregnant, or even an std. What did they think ,they were not capable of these things. I have a son who is an idiot when it comes to this matter, no matter how much I lecture him. He is proud at the age of twenty to say that he has had twenty-three partners. Oh yes he keeps track, and no he does not use condoms. Seriously an idiot, he thinks birth control is her responsibility. I'm curious whether or not if she is on birth control even comes up in conversation before hand.
Why don't people worry more about diseases? Did they not hear the one where "if you sleep with someone you are sleeping with everyone they slept with" and so on. So if they have something you have a good chance of getting it. Like AIDS, just because you don't have it does not mean you can't be a carrier. I absolutely hate the line "I trust them", seriously how about the twenty people they slept with before you, do you trust them too. Wait you probably don't even know them.
Who are you to decide someone else's fate? So use CONDOMS they may not only save your life but someone else's. Do you want to be the one who gives someone you love some type of disease because you where an idiot in the past.
Just for the record its every ones responsibility when it comes to safe sex.

Weight Loss
Let's talk about Gastric By Pass surgery. For medical reason this is a good thing. But there are those people out there who are just to lazy to exercise and eat right. There is a girl I know who actually gained weight so that she could have the surgery, she was heavy but not enough to qualify. Is that ridiculous or what? Don't you think that the doctor should have noticed she put on an extra seventy-five pounds in a short time? So she had the surgery and now weighs maybe 110 pounds if that. She never even tried dieting. For her it was like she was going on with a new fad, because everyone she knew was having it done. It drives me crazy when I think about it.
Seriously doctors should have a more strict qualifying program. One that starts out with a extreme diet and exercise program. You know to see if you can lose the weight naturally. Maybe to at least say you tried it the natural way, and then if it doesn't work have the surgery. Actually I feel it should only be aloud if you have serious health issues, where losing the weight would be beneficial. I mean do we even know what the long term effects from this type of surgery is.
What really pisses me off is that insurance company's are paying for this surgery. It wouldn't cover a tummy tuck,or liposuction, so why this. Let see because its suppose to help prevent other health issues, so why don't they pay for my gym membership? I go there to stay healthy to prevent health issues so why shouldn't they pay for it.Preventive maintenance they can call it. I mean should get some kind of break for trying to be healthy without cheating.

Snow Alien
Lets me talk about this thing called snow. You would seriously think it was some type of alien the way people behave when it happens. I enjoy the snow just like the next guy. I like sledding and making snow angels. What I don't like is how every one seems to have no idea what to do when it comes to snow removal.
In a world where we can practically predict that its going to snow, and even approximately how much we will receive, you would think that we would have some type of plan on how to prepare for it. Every one's first response to snow is to flock to the grocery store like as if we are going to be snowed in for weeks on end. This ridiculous ritual seems to be the only preparation we do.
What I want is for areas to have some kind of snow removal plan before it actually snows. I live on a street that has a sign posted saying "Snow Emergency Route". Let me tell you I am glad that I had no emergency because I was definitely not getting anywhere. Friday , was the first actual day that it was safe to drive down my street. So I asked the borough what took so long ? They said they were not sure how to take care of it. So your telling me what, they didn't know it was going to snow , and once it got here is when they first thought "Oh what are we gonna do with all this snow". Seriously don't they watch the news or weather channel.
It just really makes me mad to live in a world with so much technology and knowledge out there and yet people still don't take advantage of it. Plan a head, be prepared, have some kind of game plan, use the information that is available to us, then people wouldn't have to worry about buying groceries, something like snow wouldn't keep us from are daily routines, Seriouly.

I'd like to talk about a country that is always giving with little to no help or appreciation in return. I am proud to live in such a country. My mother has always said " do on to others as you would like for them to do on to you". I live in a country that lives by this rule. My confusion in this type of thought process comes when we put other countries above our own. We are always willing to step in to lend a hand whether it be in war or assistance due to some type of disaster. We have helped countries that hate us, even ones that don't want our help. Yet we are still there for them. Billions of dollars are spent to help such countries. My concern is our country, especially in current times, too is suffering. We too have those who suffer from homelessness, starvation, and lack of health care. There are those who are losing there homes, jobs, and way of life. Yet there seems to be little to no funding to help such people. I think that its great to live in such a giving country but we tend to forget about our own. We too need help, and only we can change things to make it better. So those who are generous remember when donating to check into your local Red Cross, Food Banks, and the many other programs that need funding to help improve our community. Don't forget we to our suffering a time of crisis. Again I am proud to live in such a giving country, just remember our country too needs help.
